Boost Your Career this Summer 2023

Career Design Lab kicked off the summer with the first event at

Career Design Workshop Series — Acclimating to The US Marketplace last Tuesday, May 30th, 2023!

Paul Maniaci, the Assistant Director of the Career Design Lab,  gave SPS students a broad overview of the U.S. workplace traditions and culture. Drawing from his over twelve years of experience helping students find internships and prepare for career opportunities, Mr. Maniaci prepared a wonderful workshop with comprehensive industry resources. He lectured, facilitated engaging discussions, and conducted meaningful activities to help students understand and prepare for the job market trend, U.S. business culture, and recruitment cycles. Students learned networking skills and practiced elevator pitches with their peers which advanced their career development.

The event also took different SPS program students’ needs into consideration and designed specialized resources for them. For example, students were introduced to the recruitment cycles for different industries that they were interested in entering. As many of our attendees were international students, the workshop also considered their special visa status and provided advice tailored to them. Lastly, SPS students shared their career development concerns and experience in an inclusive environment, and Mr. Maniaci addressed them according to the student’s unique situations with his expertise.

Students not only learned from the lecturer but also gained support from their peers throughout the events. It has been our pleasure to keep SPS students navigating through their career development at our first summer workshop series event. We are looking forward to helping more SPS students in the upcoming networking series!
