What’s Going On in This Graph? | U.S. Population Diversity Shift

How has the diversity of the population of the United States shifted from 2010 to 2020?

This map compares the populations of white people and people of color from the 2010 and 2020 censuses. Each arrow shows the percentage change for county census tracts with a change of more than 1 percent. Census tracts are geographic regions that are designated by the Census Bureau and have, on average, about 4,000 people, though they can range in size from 1,200 to 8,000 people. Note that for this map, white is defined as non-Hispanic white.
