Use VMock to Strengthen Your Resume

Before applying to any opportunity, it can’t hurt to run your resume through VMock!

VMock is a powerful, easy-to-use automated online resume platform. This “virtual resume assistant” will give you feedback on your resume within seconds of uploading it. The tool will then suggest edits that can help strengthen your resume.

You can log into VMock using your Columbia SSO, on vmock.com/columbiasps.

Once logged in, you will be prompted to select the type of resume you will be assessed against. Quantitative Careers are for resumes that utilize technologies and data. Management Careers are for resumes that focus on project management and business.

Make sure to view the informational video on how to use this tool located in the top right corner of the homepage.

After uploading your resume, VMock will generate a score for your resume based on 3 parameters:

  1. Impact
  2. Presentation
  3. Competencies

This tool will help you focus on the areas that need work and will suggest edits too.

After working on the edits that are suggested, you can repeat the process and upload your resume again to generate a new score! Students have up to a total of 10 resume uploads on this platform.

We recommend that after achieving a score of 70 or higher, you work with your career coach to fine-tune your resume.

After your resume updates, make sure to upload it to your application materials on SPS Talent so employers will be able to view your resume via our Candidate Search Feature!
