Full Job Description
The Financial Analyst will provide broad based accounting and analytical support for our businesses located in various locations throughout the U.S. This includes participation in and support of the general accounting process, including month-end and year-end closing. In addition to the accounting duties, this role supports achievement of broad business goals by being the point person for all financial analysis needs of the business, including cost/operational analyses, budgeting/forecasting processes, capital project investment analyses, and ad hoc analyses.
In order to provide value-added support, the position is expected to visit the operations frequently to gain an understanding of the plants/processes and develop relationships with the people managing the sites.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience required.
Certifications: MBA a plus.
Licenses: Valid Driver’s License preferred.
Knowledge: An understanding of plant operations and work together with people at the sites to optimize the value provided to the business.
Skills: Good analytical skills and general business sense are critical. Also, good oral and written communication skills are important.
Abilities: Must have the ability to work independently while displaying sound judgment, adhering to department work standards, handling multiple priorities and maintaining timeliness and quality of work.
Behaviors: Comfort being in and around heavy manufacturing operations. Be action oriented, results focused, and possess good self-management skills. Occasional travel to manufacturing locations is required.
Perform duties in accordance with sound general/cost accounting practices, policies and procedures.
Perform a variety of routine month- and year-end closing duties covering most areas of all three financial statements. This includes but is not limited to: insuring closing timeliness and accuracy, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entry preparation/posting, net sales and cost of sales accuracy, KPI communication and variance analysis and reporting. Ad hoc analysis as required.
Effectively work with plant personnel and others in finance group to provide decision support and help make sound business decisions to optimize performance of the Company.
Support financial and cash flow studies for cost management initiatives, capital projects, investment opportunities, and other projects.
Support development and review of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and other business initiatives.
Perform wide variety of general accounting duties such as month end report preparation, annual/periodic audit support, physical inventory counts, and various state and/or federal tax filings.
