What team will you be on?
The BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) team is at the heart of BlackRock’s investment debate and portfolio construction. BII provides a platform for BlackRock’s portfolio managers to debate timely topics affecting markets – and disseminates actionable conclusions through internal summaries and client publications. BII research creates the core portfolio building blocks core to BlackRock’s mission to create a better financial future for people, companies and governments. This nimble, global team has outsized impact on BlackRock’s performance, commercial success and brand.

We are looking for an experienced investment writer to join our publishing team in New York to produce groundbreaking thought leadership across media platforms. This includes helping publish BII’s most visible publication, the Weekly commentary, as well as Global insights publications and internal summaries of BII workshop and debates. The successful candidate will report to BII’s deputy editor, and may direct other members of the U.S.-based BII publishing team.
Why is your role important?
The New York-based investment writer is part of the BlackRock Investment Institute’s (BII) publishing team. The person is responsible for producing investment insights for BlackRock clients and portfolio managers across media. This includes helping publish BII’s most visible publication, the Weekly commentary, as well as Global insights publications and internal summaries of BII workshop and debates. The successful candidate will report to BII’s publisher or deputy editor, and may oversee and direct other members of the U.S.-based BII publishing team.
What will you be doing?
Writing, editing, data mining, fact-checking and designing BII publications across media platforms
Interacting with senior BII staff and BlackRock portfolio managers to put together investment insights
Partnering with Marketing, Media relations and BlackRock’s Client Channels to amplify BII publications
What are we looking for?
In-depth knowledge of – and passion for — global financial markets and economics
Superb writing and editing abilities, and excellent interviewing skills
A self-starter with loads of creativity, team spirit, versatility and persistence
Ability to work very quickly, deliver on or before deadline and go the extra mile
Intense attention to accuracy, detail and consistency
Data mining prowess, ability to work with Excel and strong interest in graphics/design
Excellent organizational, representational and leadership skills
Ability to partner with senior BII executives and BlackRock portfolio managers
Work experience of at least five years in senior reporting and editing positions in financial journalism
