We’re excited to welcome you to the Fall 2026 Columbia SPS Career & Networking Expo on Thursday, September 17th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM in Lerner Auditorium. This is your opportunity to connect with top employers and industry professionals, explore career opportunities, and expand your network.

Be Strategic with Your Time

Focus on quality, not quantity. Identify three to five organizations that best match your interests and career goals and aim for targeted conversations rather than trying to meet everyone. 

Types of Organizations

There will be recruiters, networkers, and professional associations at the event. Please refer to the descriptions below. 

• Recruiters: Company representatives offering career opportunities 

• Networkers: Industry professionals, alumni, and faculty representatives sharing career insights and building connections

• Professional Associations: Industry groups providing career resources, networking, and connections 

Dress Code

Business professional or business casual attire is recommended. Dress as you would for an interview.

Career Expo FAQ:
1. How many resumes should I bring? 

Bring about 10 – 15 paper copies. Not every representative will request a paper copy, but having extras ensures you’re prepared if you meet more people than expected. Always have your personal Linkedin QR code handy to share easily. 

2. Is there a printer at the location?
No, there will not be a printer onsite. Please bring printed copies of your resume.

3. What should I wear?
Business professional or business casual attire is recommended. Dress as you would for an interview.

4. Do I need to stay for the entire event?
No. Please attend during your designated entry/exit window, meet your target organizations, and then exit so other students can have the same opportunity.

5. How do I decide which organizations to visit?
Review the list ahead of time and select 3 – 5 top organizations that align with your interests and career goals.

6. Can I talk to more than 3 – 5 organizations?
Yes, but prioritize your top choices first. Think quality over quantity.

7. Will there be long wait times?
Yes. Some organizations may have longer lines due to higher student interest. Please be patient and use the time to review your notes or practice your pitch.

8. Can I bring food or drinks?
No. Outside food or beverages are allowed in the event areas. Water will be available at designated fountains. 

9. Will employers be offering interviews on the spot?
Most organizations will not conduct interviews during the event, but they may invite you to apply or follow up after the event.

10. What should I do after the fair?
Send a thank-you email or LinkedIn message to the representatives you spoke with. Following up shows professionalism and helps you stand out.
